Snehabandhan Chess Learning Centre Guwahati, in association with Assam Chess Club, celebrated INTERNATIONAL CHESS DAY at Snehabandhan’s Noonmati premises. Chess Prodigy of the state Master Dhrupad Kashyap, who recently bagged a silver medal in the under-16 category of the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2019, was felicitated during the programme. Dhrupad also played chess with 20 upcoming chess players of Guwahati simultaneously and managed to win all 20 games. A movie show on chess was also held on the occasion. Another promising girl player of Assam Bidisha Sarma was also felicitated during the programme.
International Chess Day is celebrated annually on July 20, the day the International Chess Federation (FIDE) was founded in 1924.
